"LAST SWIM"

End of summer,
Beach path remains
A beckoning walk
One last time.

Evening swim,
Great way to say
Goodbye.
Lingering thoughts of
Quiet days.
Next summer
Too far away.

Feeling
Wistful.

"ECLIPSE"

Sept 28th.
Sat on the porch,
Cup of coffee in hand.
Watched for what
Seemed like hours.
No pictures,
Just memory
Capturing the view.
Quiet evening,
With woodsy sounds
Catching the dog's
Fancy.
Perfect night out!

CARVINGS

On the tree, his initials, not mine.
It was his tree, his land.
Walking always in silence,
Trusting each would know
When to speak.

My land now,
Same quiet paths,
Still comforted by the words
We didn't say.

EVENING

Favorite spot late in
The day.
Spent hours painting
The view.
Let the night fade
Evening begins.

Nowhere to go;
Lean back and let
The colors show themselves.
The night begins
Slowly,
Wait for it.

"BRIEF ENCOUNTER"

Quick peek is
All I get.
Not more than a few
Minutes.
The rickety old chair
On the porch
Briefly glows in the
Cold light.
Reflects in the
Coffee cup
At my elbow.
Dark clouds gather,
All that was visible
Disappears.

"THE GATHERING"

Yet again
The clouds roll.
Darker still this time.
Last glimpse given
Of sunlight this day.

Hours passing,
Late in the day.
All below here is watered.
Crops replenished,
Brooks overflowing,
Birds bathing in puddles.
After the storm.
All drama ends.
Life goes on.

"WILLOW"

Past her prime, she is.
Limbs falling to
Harsh winds.
Still she branches out
Each spring.
Leaves blowing in the
Summer breeze.

Now not the beauty
Of once upon a time,
She is home to
The pileated,
The flying squirrel,
and any orphan
That passes by.

"MINNESOTA SUNRISE"

Road out of town
Ahead of traffic
Quiet and alone.

Nothing to block
The view.

Dawn breaks,
Floods the foreground
With  promise.
