"GRANDMA'S FLOWERS"

Always plant a garden where you
Can watch and enjoy each blossom.
A habit of which one never tires.

It may be possible to
Tend your homestead
From one generation to the next.

Walking on the dust of
Generations past
Makes the flowers
Smell sweeter.

"GRANDPA'S FIELD"

He lived his life for the land.
He tilled the field and
Planted his garden;
Cut the hay and filled his barn.
He bent his back to the harvest,
Pruned the fruit trees in dead
Of winter.

Did we ever know the seasons
Meant so much more than
Four pictures on a wall?

"STICKS AND STONES"

First brook, quarter mile from
My house.
Never the same from day to day.
I make small changes to the
Waterfall, build houses out of moss,
Fences and trees out of
Sticks and leaves.
Pretended all the time that the
Folks who lived there liked
The changes.
Imagination was the best friend
I had in those days.
I was never lonely.
"QUARRY BROOK"

Water! Deep, cold,
Bottomless.
Too interesting to pass by.
Walk a mile,
Crashing waterfall, deep pool,
Begging me to
Dive right in.
A mother's word,
Whispering,
"Never swim alone".
Homeward bound.
"WHERE DREAMS MAY GO"

Feelings run high here.
The last great walk, a time of
Pure joy and playfulness.
We were happy;
She, chasing butterflies
In the field;
I, picking flowers to put in
The jar back home.

Everything turns into
A memory.
Only the flowers
Don't last.
"PRAIRIE CONEFLOWER"

Tallgrass prairie, flowers
Standing tall against the
Coming storm.

Who walked years before me
On this path?
One who knew to leave
The beauty for an
Unsuspecting soul.
Pass it forward
For the caretakers
Of the land.
"BLOWIN' IN THE WIND"

There is no better way to
Experience a breeze than
To lie and watch it play
Over a field of wildflowers.
It tickles the large blooms,
Bends the
Gentle-stemmed flowers
In a graceful
Dance with the light,
And sends the grasses
Into a frenzy.
Such is life.

"REFLECTIONS"

Home - a place to come back to.
Grounded, knowing that
Wherever you travel, the
Familiar sights and sounds
Await the turn of a key.
Rooms no longer empty.

I am filled with a
Sense of belonging.
One simple word, "Home".
A different meaning for
Each of us.
